4/8/2011 2 Comments 3 years have flown by!We met these two little monkeys on April 7, 2008. P was almost 5 yet she seemed so much younger by the way she talked. Nic was 2....oh, how I love them at 2 years old! I can honestly say...it was the day that changed my life. I regret not taking more video clips of them when they were younger. I only have about 10 clips, so sad. Sorry if you've seen the clips before...like I said, I only have a few. Here's a clip of me trying to get them to take their nap. It was obvious there was a language barrier between us. Watching this clip makes me miss them so much as little people. Here's another clip, taken the first weekend they stayed with us.

4/6/2011 2 Comments Legal Family MattersYou guys are so lucky. You get pregnant easily. Your kids become US citizens automatically. You get to claim them as dependents on your tax return immediately. NO PAPERWORK! NO COURTS!! NO FEES!!!
I, too, feel extremely lucky. But nothing comes easy for me. The kids becoming citizens last week was a huge hurdle. Did you know that it costs me $3000 just for the paperwork? But worth every penny, nonetheless. Unfortunately, it's not completely over for me. You see, Adrian is the sole guardian of the kids. On their birth certificate, he is listed as the "father" and a "blank" is in the "mother" field (boo!) He was eligible to adopt the kids in Romania, I was not at the time. I had to establish permanent residency, meaning I had to live there for 5 years before I could adopt them. We only lived there for 2 years. My next step is to become their adopted mother...to get my name on their birth certificate...to become their legal guardian. I know it has to be possible, just not sure where my situation fits in. Did some research on the web and found the following options. Probably need to go talk to Social Services or whatever department that handles this. Re-Adoption
4/5/2011 2 Comments remodelingA project for the kids - remodel an old dollhouse. One of the soccer girls outgrew this dollhouse and gave it to Paula. I thought it would be fun to remodel it! New paint job, new furniture....I'll update with "after" pictures once we are done.
4/4/2011 1 Comment mommy make-oversSomething happens to you when you turn 40...physically. My older sister Trang (43) and I (41) are experiencing the same struggles with losing weight. Since it was too late to join the family bet (read Mel's blog for details), we decided to keep tabs on each other on a daily basis. We both want to reach 110 lbs....and since we weigh the same right now, we are going to lose this weight and reach our goal together! No bet between us...just encouragement. I'll be tracking our progress online (goto "mommy-makeover") if you want to push us on! There is no excuse to be frumpy 40-somethings!!! I'm tired of looking so blah. I just ordered some make-up online yesterday. It's a good start. Look what I found! This was taken exactly 3 years ago. I snapped this picture cause this was the lightest I've been since high school! I lost a lot of weight right before meeting the children (combination of stress and excitement). You can see for my frame (5 feet tall), jumping from 106 to 120 is a big deal! This picture is a good reminder that I was once there...and it is possible....I guess I just need to adopt more children!
