8/25/2013 0 Comments *One show I can't get enough of.....I've seen back to back episodes of this until dawn before....it just BLOWS my mind. I find it so fascinating. I am a little bit of a hoader...when I find something that I love on sale, I want to buy all of it, then cruise the other store locations to buy more. Well, that only happened once with teapots. I was completely obsessed with them. I bought my first Japanese teapot for $75. It was black cast iron. Saw it on the shelf at a beautiful dessert place....it became my go to gift for family and friends. Then one day at Marshall's I saw one in green with dragonflies on them for only $15...there's a bunch of them in different colors and shapes. FOR $15!!! These were made in China, not Japan...big difference in the price. I bought all of them. Then I went to many other Marshall's to buy more. In the end, I think I had around 30 teapots. They've been sitting in my craft cabinet for 8 years!!! Just sitting there collecting dust. So after watching this show, I've given many away...now I'm down to 10 or so...I'm keeping these 10. 10 is not considered hoarding.... Was minding my own business yesterday until I saw this and had to pull over! These guys were putting on these white jumpsuits with gas masks...HOLY SH*T...there's a hoader house in the hood! Passed this house many times and assumed it was abandoned. Turns out there's a woman living in there, crawling through a window to get in and out of the place cause her front door is sealed shut with trash!!!! I guess she got kicked out of the house cause investors are remodeling the house and flipping it. Can't wait to see the outcome. Do NOT scroll down if you have a quick gagging reflex...... You've been warned ... ... ... Teapots are beautiful.....I just don't get the hoarders' mentality of collecting TRASH! It just BLOWS my mind!!!
8/25/2013 1 Comment dreams do come true[old picture I found of Lisa + Mike visiting us in Romania - April 2008 - one week before we met Paula and Nic]
Lisa, Michael and Luke are moving to San Diego!!!!!! This is the first time that family will be living in the same city with us. It is going to be so GREAT to have them around for the holidays, dinners, weekend activities....I'm so happy for Paula and Nic to have their cousin Luke to grow up with and the chance to get to know my little nephew. We'll do our best to make these Austinites feel at home in the place I've called home for 16 years. 8/19/2013 1 Comment I knew him when....Grant is a son of a friend (Bill) of a friend (Terri). When I worked in San Antonio (approx 10 years ago), I went to Six Flags with Terri, Bill and his 16 year old son Grant.... Fast forward to the present....I went to Terri's dinner party a couple of weekends ago and saw Bill and Grant again, after 10+ years. My first comment when I saw Grant to his girlfriend was "Grant looks like he should be in an Indie band" ....and would you know it....HE IS! His band "Mothlight" happened to be playing at a bar in my neighborhood last Friday. Adrian and I went to support them and to document that ....I knew him when.....in case Grant makes it BIG someday! Grant plays the keyboard....check out their song "blooming": 8/18/2013 0 Comments new 'doWhile killing time waiting for the various rides at Universal Studios, Paula and I accidentally came up with a new hairdo for her....she can wear the side braids all day....which will result in these cute waves after several hours! We're both excited cause the waves give her super thin hair more body!

The city blocked off 5.2 miles of neighborhood streets for bikers, walkers, scooters, etc. from 10 am to 4pm. We got in our exercise for the day....so much fun! Worked up a big appetite (heirloom tomatoes from the garden):
8/11/2013 1 Comment Jimmy + Lynn + their 3 sonsare indeed an ADORABLE family. We can't wait to try this -- thank you for the parting gifts. It's soooooo cool that you guys were able to stay with us for a few days so that we could get to know each other better and for the kids to "bond".
We LOVE you guys! P.S. Jimmy also gave me the Postal Service's special edition CD. He is such a special kid. That REALLY touched me ;) I am so happy we are family. Nic met a very special little girl when he was in pre-school. They now attend different elementary schools...yet she still remembers him. Nic got this in the mail from Maya while she was vacationing in Spain this summer.... Nic's response: "She is too young for me!"
