10/27/2015 0 Comments The Wonder YearsI signed Paula up for Cotillion classes. The teacher has been offering these classes for 30+ years....teaching etiquette to 6th graders. Nic said "no way" he would do this when he's in 6th grade, which makes me more appreciative of Paula for accepting to go to these classes. These kids come from all over SD, so she doesn't know any of the kids. I can see how shy and awkward she feels, but that is the whole point of these classes.....so that she can overcome that awkwardness/shyness....be confident and poised :) They dance in every class...teaching the boys to walk up to girls and ask for a dance. They practice having conversations with each other, make eye contact. Future classes will cover dining etiquette too. What I hope Paula would get out of these classes is to be socially gracious and confident!

10/27/2015 0 Comments October HappeningsI can't get into Halloween this year. Changes at work must be affecting me big time! I am working with a bunch of new people in preparation for an outsourcing initiative at work...and I think it's taking a toll on me..spilling into my personal life! No Halloween party this year...very minimal Halloween decorations...no costumes except for the kids! Here are random October pictures: Nic's soccer team - undefeated so far! Nic is #9. Nic: How long do I have to wear pink socks?  Sometimes the chickens lay their eggs outside the coop....we have a couple of missing eggs hidden in the backyard. Found this one under the pepper tree:  Sometimes the cats sleep in the chicken coop:  10/18/2015 0 Comments Sports WeekendMaya invited Nic to his first hockey game with the San Diego Gulls  The following night, Paula and I went to see the Lakers exhibition game with the Golden State Warriors! Kobe Bryant didn't play, but Steph Curry did! It was thrilling to see Curry (#30) on the court. They ended the game early, right before the 4th quarter cause the players were slipping on the court....wonder if the ice rink from the night before had something to do with that (HA!)...good news is that we can get a refund for the game! It was a fun experience!   10/13/2015 0 Comments Baby Maximus Arrived!Congratulations to brother Van and LeAnn - their baby boy arrived healthy at 8 lbs 10 oz!!! Happy Birthday Cousin Maximus!  10/12/2015 0 Comments Hearst Castle WeekendThe kids have Columbus Day off, so we headed north for a camping weekend in San Simeon. We were only gone for 2 days...so with 2 chickens laying, we expected 4 eggs in the basket... Look how many we found!  10/6/2015 0 Comments Blue Eggs and HamRuby delivered her first egg today! She's the only one in the gang that can lay blue eggs.  My camera can't really capture the faint blue color. Here is an egg color chart of the different breeds. Ruby is an Ameraucana.  |
