Nic wanted to buy this racing car - we said "No"....so our neighbor decided to buy it instead and will let Nic drive it from time to time.   Saying good bye to Nic's Chula Vista soccer team as they are all heading to college:     3/11/2024 0 Comments MY SWEET OLIVERWe knew it would happen sometime this year. And so it happened....this weekend....March 9, 2024. These details are really for me, so that I won't forget the last few days together. Thursday 3/7/24: I was awoken by a big thunk sound. Oliver had fallen in the crack between the wall and the bed. He was disoriented and panicked...like how a cat is when they fall into water unexpectedly. I had this immediately "uh-oh" feeling. He wanted to get off the bed....and when he did, I saw that his hind legs went out and he fell. Poor baby. Thursday night....Adrian and Nic drove off at 1 am to Mammoth for their already planned snowboarding weekend. So it was just me and Oliver. I slept on the sofa, held him like a baby all night long. We hung out together all day Friday....even got a surprise delivery from Aunt Lisa who sent us a survivors kit: flowers/breakfast/lunch/dinner/wine/snacks for the long hard weekend ahead of us.  Oliver was a fighter to the end! I just wanted him to lay down and take a nap, just rest, my little sweet boy.  We were both up at 2 am, then 4 am, then 6 am.....so by 12:20 pm, I really needed a power nap. I was awoken by Oliver saying "ARRR....", then he released a strong puff of air, and just like that. It was lights out...he was gone...completely gone. It was peaceful and so quick....I could not believe it. I was so grateful for him yelling out "ARRR" to wake me up :)  19 wonderful years together. The pain is so real. I think only people with pets would understand how incredibly painful it feels. Born on January 25, 2005 (same birth day (not year) as my beautiful nephew Ben which makes Oliver's birthday 1000x more memorable to me. Took him home in March 2005 after 6 weeks old.
