5/25/2014 2 Comments Holy First CommunionPaula and Nic received the sacrament of holy first communion this weekend. Aunt Lisa and Uncle Michael were kind enough to be their sponsors. We are so lucky to have them here for occasions like this. The priest did not want us taking pictures during mass, so these pictures were taken quickly by phones from afar. Paula reading the First Reading: Photo shoot at Balboa Park's Rose Garden on a gray May day: Let's talk fist communion fashion. I sifted through so many sites on the web searching for that wholesome timeless dress for P. I know deep down if she had her choice, it would puffy, frilly, shiny with lots of sequence...you get the idea. And surprisingly, I didn't go with the veil, which I loved a kid. But from the pictures on the web, they look like miniature brides which just looked too much. I know when P saw the other girls with tiaras, I'm sure she was envious but the good thing about her is that she went with my wishes and did not put up a fuss. To add a special touch, Aunt Lisa gave her that rose headband.
I downloaded the picture of her dress from the web for her keepsake (you can click on the pictures to see a close-up).

I like how you took pictures when the priest said not to. It's a good life lesson... rules are meant to be broken. ;)
